![]() ![]() In Pinkie Spy, Pinkie Pie has a mask of Spike the Dog when posing as a "dog burglar". Spike is present when Twilight's Equestrian counterpart appears from the portal, happily wagging his tail at the sight of a second Twilight Sparkle. This gives him the ability to speak and communicate with humans, though he assures Twilight he hasn't been affected in any adverse ways.ĭuring the climax of the film, when Twilight transforms into the evil Midnight Sparkle, Spike calls out to her and gives a pleading look, momentarily bringing her back to her senses so Sunset Shimmer can return her to normal. When Twilight's pendant absorbs Fluttershy's magic, causing dimensional rifts to Equestria to open, Spike follows a jackalope through one of the rifts, and he is accidentally exposed to some of Fluttershy's magic. Spike shows much concern for Twilight throughout the film, as he dislikes Canterlot High School and expresses worry about Twilight's trip there. Both Rarity and Fluttershy recognize him when he pops out of Twilight's backpack. As he was depicted in the post-credits scene of Rainbow Rocks, this Spike is depicted as being non-sentient and only able to communicate like an actual dog. Spike the Dog appears along with his owner Twilight in the third film. Unlike Spike the Dragon, Spike the Dog only barks. Spike the Dog is first mentioned by Pinkie Pie when she asks Twilight Sparkle if she had a twin sister with a dog who looks like hers.Īfter the closing credits, Spike the Dog appears on-screen alongside human Twilight eating some dog food from a bowl. On a (somewhat) unrelated note, another case of spike abuse/neglect, is when he saved the whole crystal empire, and did he get appreciation or recognition? NO! Also, Twilight has never said "thank you or "I appreciate you working so much for me without getting anything in return and being manipulated by others (especially that little prissy bitch Rarity) into doing what they want with no gain for you except false hope that you're actually cared about instead of practically being a slave.Depiction in Equestria Girls My Little Pony Equestria Girls It seems like the equestrians are deliberately trying to avoid everything (and everyone) else. I know there are few, like Spike or Cranky Doodle Donkey, but they're a minority. Equestria is supposed to be a land of "harmony" and "friendship", but do you ever really see species other than ponies? For a country that's supposed to be so peaceful, I find it a little suspicious that you'll hardly see any creature other than ponies. My idea is that ponies are extremely racist, (which has been somewhat proven to an extent) and as such do not care about the wellbeing of other species. I'd love it if a fan decided to write an epilogue where Twilight, Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy- take your pick, it could be anypony- actually shows some concern over Spike's cold and gives him medicine and whatnot. Not only was Spike clearly sick at the end, but he was still attempting to write down Twilight's friendship letter for her, and the only reaction she had was to chuckle softly when he fell asleep again? She could have at least offered to tuck him in bed. (Magic might have been forbidden on that one day but pegasus flight sure wasn't outlawed.) It's also troubling that none of the nearby pegasus or unicorn ponies who could more easily rescue him offered to help, either. AJ's skilled with a lasso, she could have pulled him to shore. I think it was terrible that Applejack noticed he was in a dangerous situation (sleeping on ice that was rapidly melting) but she did nothing to help him, only laughed. Yes, Spike behaved impishly during that episode but he did do some nice things (how many friends would give someone a bath when they got skunked?) ![]() That's a problem I had with the ending to Winter Wrap Up. ![]()
